Peter French Willis

June 8, 1948 - May 20, 2005

Pete died from liver cancer in Atlanta, GA.  After graduating from Lafayette College in 1971, he lived and worked in the Boston area for many years.  He enjoyed sailing in Marblehead and coaching soccer in Amesbury for his sons' teams.  Pete was survived by his wife, Ann Holbrook-Willis, and their sons; Braden, then 21 and at Georgia Tech; Trevor, then 20 and at Kennesaw University; and Davis, then 18 and at Georgia State.  His mother Yvonne Willis and sister Christina Hoag also survived Pete.

Rob Spencer and I were fortunate to spend time with Pete and his wife over the years.  During his last few days in the hospital, I visited him with his wife and sons and I told them stories about the "young Pete" that they had never heard before while he listened in.  At one point Anne said "Pete, you never told me that" and Pete opened his eyes and said "I was taking that with me to the grave".  It was a wonderful, joy filled exchange just before he passed.  Rob then performed his memorial service for friends and family.  We miss him!

Thank you Craig for telling us more about Pete. He and his brother David were favorites of mine in school. Do you remember David singing a solo of "Oh Holy Night" at Glenwood School? I also have good memories of both you and Rob. I went to our 20th class reunion and visited with Pete. He was charming as always. He was lucky to have good friends with him like you and Rob in his last days. Sherry Kelly Beattie
