In Memory

James Arthur Curtin

January 19, 1948 - January 30, 1974

Jim died suddenly, of causes unknown to us, on January 30, 1974.  A funeral mass for him was held at St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills on February 2, 1974.   Following the funeral service, he was buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange.   Jim joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Germany.

The picture at the right accompanied this brief article about his military service that appeared in The Item of Millburn and Short Hills, April 13, 1967:  “Private First Class James A. Curtin, son of Mrs. Cornelius J. Curtin, Jr. of Barnsdale Road and of the late Mr. Curtin, was recently decorated for 'superior performance of duty' by the commanding officer of the 24th Infantry Division which is stationed in Germany.  PFC Curtin is presently assigned to the contingent of American troops on guard duty at the Berlin wall.

PFC Curtin, who attended Millburn High School, entered the Army on April 6, 1966 and has been stationed in Germany since October 1.”
