In Memory

Claire Koenigsberg (Caines)

Claire Koenigsberg (Caines)

Dear Millburn High Students, This is Claire's spouse, Tom Caines.
It is with great sadness that I share the news of Claire Koenigsberg Caines' passing on September 16. She was dealing with a multitude of health issues for the past two years. It became time for her to rest. Claire was cremated and no services are planned at this time. Claire spoke fondly of her time at Milburn High and the lasting friendships she cherished.

Dear Tom,

I am so sorry for your loss.  You and Claire were the most spectacular couple and I shall cherish the two times in which we all spent together.  My last visit overnight in your home was particularly special as I was brought into your inner sanctum.  I hope that the happiest memories you shared together over so many years will sustain you through this period.

Claire and I had our French connection at Millburn that bound us even closer than the normal high school memories that people have.  Overlapping one another while studying in Paris in 1968 and then catching up every so often meant a great deal to me.  I was so happy to have finally met you, whom she adored.

My deepest condolences.
Linnie

Dear Tom,

I was so very sorry to hear about Claire and send my condolences to you and her sister, June.  Claire and I became friends early on in Wyoming School, and remained very close friends through Jr High School.  We spent many hours having fun sleepovers, and not-as-much fun carpooling together to Hebrew school!  I was fortunate to touch base again with her at our reunion and a mini-reunion after that.  I will always remember her fun loving spirit.  She will be missed.

Warmest Regards,

Renee Laniado Guilmette

Dear Tom,

I am so sorry to learn of Claire's recent death. She will be missed by me and many of her classmates from Wyoming Elementary, Millburn Jr.HS, and the MHS class of 1966. I first met Claire at Wyoming School in 1955, our neighborhood school. I am happy I had the opportunity to reconnect with her for our 50th class reunion in 2016. Bless you in the days ahead!

Tom & Family -

I am so saddened to hear of Clair passing away..  My condolences are with you and your family at this most difficult time..  I remember Clair growing up on Reeve Circle and I was not to far away on Cypress Street and we used to hang out all the time, as we only lived a few blocks from each other.. She was a good friend to have growing up and going through the school system together..  She will be missed by many good friends from our growing up days, as well as I am sure many friends through her adult years... If there should be anything you might need, please don't hesitate and reach out..  Again, my condolences!!

Dear Tom,

I am so sad to learn of Claire's passing. My condolences to you and others in your family.

Had the good luck to be in several classes with Claire, first in junior high and later in high school. The most fun was writing and editing with her on the school yearbook--and then of course hooking uo again at the 50th reunion and laughing about some of literary high jinx.

Thinking of her and you now--what a marvelous girl and woman.

Fondly,

Suzanne Charle'

Dear Tom,

I was saddened to learn of Claire's passing from your message to the class.  (I wrote something and thought it was getting posted but don't see it anywhere...lost in the technosphere).  Claire and I shared many classes and extracurricular activities, such as the yearbook (I was senior section editor) throughout our education in the Millburn school system.  I began at Wyoming elementary as did she, but my family moved to the South Mountain district when I began 2nd grade.  It was wonderful seeing her and sharing our life experiences at many reunions we both attended.  I hope she did not suffer too much fighting through her health challenges the last few years which you alluded to.  When I saw her at the 50th reunion, as I was once again living in Northern Jersey, I reached out to Claire to try to get together for a more in depth private time together but our locations and schedules with our patients was not conducive to such.  What I know personally (just had surgery Oct 5) is that it is both physically and mentally quite challenging for the "provider caregiver" to become the one who needs the care given to themselves.  As you and Claire were not only partners in your health center, you were partners in your marriage and life together.  This must have been difficult for you on many levels and I'm sure the loss now is yet another great challenge for you, as you continue to work in your shared workplace and are likely seeing many of her former patients.  I wish you the strength to carry on your work and endure and cherish the wonderful time you shared with Claire, as best you can.          Barbara  Melnikoff MD
